Thankful on a Thanksgiving Thursday

A family in good health.

Having exactly four days of vacation left so I could spend the entire week of Thanksgiving with my family & friends in Nebraska.

A family of great cooks.

Losing seven pounds before Thanksgiving so I could enjoy myself without counting calories on vacation.

In laws that enjoy drinking wine during the holidays.

A daughter that likes to take naps while driving long distances.

Long stretches of highway with no patrolman in sight so we can get to Thanksgiving dinner on time.

Friends who like Jose Quervo.

Family bonding at the crack ass of dawn on Black Friday.

Two energetic dogs who miss us terribly while we are gone so they become destructive while alone at Grandma & Grandpa’s house.

An amazing husband who doesn’t mind driving the two lane highways of Nebraska and Iowa.

This girl has my genes for Mac & Cheese

Abbie has reached the age where we can start giving her soft table food.  I'm ecstatic over the whole idea because I was really getting tired and bored of steaming fruits and veggies when there are so many different foods out there for her to taste.  Well tonight I introduced her to one of my favorite meals...MACARONI & CHEESE!!  Her father isn't a big fan of mac & cheese.  He really isn't a fan of anything cheesy.  I know, can you believe I married him?  When we make Velveeta Shells & Cheese from the box, he will only add maybe 1/3 of the cheese packet.  Who does that?!?  It's called Macaroni & CHEESE!!  Now he is to the point where he doesn't even want to eat it.  So I was so excited when I could enjoy this meal with Abbie.  I was hoping that she wasn't going to be like her father.  And thankfully she wasn't.  SHE LOVED IT!!  With most finger food, she will nonchalantly drop her food on the floor for the dogs to eat.  Or she will miss her mouth and there will be a pile of food sitting next to her when I take her out of her highchair.  But tonight, she made sure every little bit of cheesy goodness ended up in her mouth.

Video of the Week

This week, we introduced Abbie to vegetables. I know, it's only been a couple of weeks since we started her on cereal. But she has mastered cereal so I figured we needed to move on to bigger and better tasting foods. Right now she is having cereal as her first meal of the day (around 6:30 am) and then has some sort of vegetable at dinnertime (around 6 pm). Abbie even gives us a critique of her meal. I just want to eat this girl up!!
