The Not So Itsy Bitsy Spider

Charlie found this beauty trying to come into our house yesterday. It was on the threashold and when Charlie opened the door, it killed him. I have never seen a spider this big. We think it was a gigantic wolf spider.

Tell me again why I'm still living in Oklahoma?

My most favorite time of the day

Life has become so hectic since becoming a mom. Once I get home from an eight hour day at work, I am on the go non stop. After feeding the babe, making dinner, bathing the babe, putting the babe to sleep, washing bottles, etc, it's 10 pm before I can finally sit and relax. Charlie is usually asleep by then so I have the house all to myself. I love this time of the day, it's me time. I usually get on the computer & multitask. I blog or check my Facebook while catching up on my soap on Hulu. Sometimes I lose track of time chatting with family & friends back home and next thing I know it's midnight and I finally head to bed to enjoy a glorious night of sleep before waking up at 5:45 to begin the whole process again. It is said that a person should get eight hours of sleep a night but I think once you become a mother, you are lucky to get six. But yet you still have it in you to make it through the day. Motherhood can be so exhausting at times but the reward in the end is so worth it.

Belated Video of the Week

I was trying to put together a movie but it just wasn't going well. So I will have to work on it and post it at another time.

So for this week, I give you my little Mariah Carey...

Made with Love by Daddy

Well I can finally say that the nursery is complete. So what if Abbie is now 6 months old. It's better than saying Abbie is six years old. You see we need to go back in time. When I was pregnant with Abbie, I had this envision. I wanted my daughter to have a dresser built by her father. Charlie is one that is into building things and doing what we call "artsy fartsy" stuff. Last year for Valentine's Day, he made me this.

So I had no doubt that he could build his daughter a dresser. Remember this post back in February. Well after buying the supplies and drafting up the dimensions, Charlie spent every week night and every weekend during the month of March out in the garage working on Abbie's dresser. His goal was to get it built by the time my mom came to visit for my birthday on the 24th which he did. He was staining and varnishing during my mom's visit. It was moved into Abbie's room before the end of March.

Besides deciding on the perfect color of stain, the major headache of it all was the hardware. We looked high in low for the exact hardware. We wanted it to be similar to the ones in the pictures of the dresser that we modeled it after. Well we found what we liked at Home Depot but you had to special order it because of the size...which was going to be $17 a handle!! Uh, on to plan B. So we start looking online and found a website that had the same exact handles for half the cost. I think total we spent $60 for all of the hardware and that included buying a couple spares in case one may break in the future. So now we waited...and waited...and waited for the hardware to arrive. It was on back order for at least six weeks. Finally they arrived!! I was so excited to have them installed!! I no longer was going to have to grab on to the bottom of the drawer to open it. Finally after 2 months of patience & hard work...it was complete!!

I present to you Abbie's dresser made with love by her Daddy...

I think he did a beautiful job. Hopefully Abbie appreciates all of the hard work that her daddy put into this some day. It truly is a labor of love.

Now I think it's time that he starts building our bedroom set...
